Mongolian Language Institute grew out of Mongolian Language Laboratory set up in 1962. It is one of the earliest research units on Mongolian studies in Inner Mongolia University. The laboratory originally belonged to Mongolian Language and Literature major of Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Inner Mongolia University. It officially became a first class scientific research unit of the university after 1973 and was renamed Mongolian Language Institute in 1982.There are 23 researchers in the institute,including 7 professors, 7 associate professors and 9 lecturers.
