Department of Mongolian Language and Literature was founded in 1957, and it is the cornerstone of Mongolian higher education and Mongolian studies of Inner Mongolia University. Mongolian Language and Literature Discipline became national level key discipline in 1988, it became " Talent Cultivation and Scientific Research Base of National Liberal Arts Basic Subjects", and in 1995 it began to enroll undergraduates of "Base Class"; In 2003, “Comprehensive Class of Liberal Arts and Science” of Mongolian Language and Literature major was added. In 2011, “Cyrillic Mongolian Class” was added in Mongolian Language and Literature major. Mongolian Language and Literature major became a major of regional level brand in 2005, and became a national level featured specialty in 2008.There are currently 18 teachers in the department. Among them, there are 10 professors, 4 associate professors and 4 lecturers.
