Inner Mongolia University first began the admission of Mongolian teaching students of journalism in 1975. In 1986, it was approved by the State Education Commission to establish a journalism major. Since 1988, Department of Mongolian Language and Literature has been recruiting Mongolian language teaching journalism majors. In 1999, School of Mongolian Studies established Department of Journalism and Publishing, and established a major in editing and publishing, and began to recruit undergraduates majoring in Mongolian language teaching editing and publishing. In 2003, broadcasting and hosting art major was established. In 2008, Journalism major became a brand major in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. There are currently 19 teachers. Among them, there are 3 professors, 3 associate professors and 13 lecturers.
